I was separated from a Holy God
With no way I could dare to enter in.
Dead in my transgressions, no pardon for my crimes
I suffered in the wages of my sin.
Then You sent your son to die for me,
When all my hope was lost
Now I call You "Father" because of the cross,
I’m adopted, adopted,
You call me Your own!
You saved me and made me an heir to Your throne.
Was once on the outside, you’ve welcomed me in,
I'm a child of the living God!
Held in fear and bondage with chains around my heart
I didn’t even know that I was bound.
A slave to my ambition, chasing all the world
But freedom from the chains could not be found.
Then you sent your son to die for me
When all my hope was lost,
Now I’ve tasted freedom because of the cross,
I’m adopted, adopted,
You call me Your own!
You saved me and made me an heir to Your throne.
A slave who is freed from the shackles of sin,
I'm a child of the living God!
My heart has been awakened, enlightened by your grace
You draw me in and keep me with your love.
The holiest of holies is now within my reach
But only by the Lamb’s redeeming blood.
I’m no longer separated from the One who paid the cost,
And I call You "Father" because of the cross,
I’m adopted, adopted,
You call me Your own.
You saved me and made me an heir to Your throne.
Was dead to Your love, now I'm raised from within,
A slave who is freed from the shackles of sin,
Was once on the outside, You’ve welcomed me in,
I'm a child of the living God!
